A beautiful sunny day in Scotland! We don't get very many, so we have to make the most of them. It's a perfect excuse for doing as little as possible, which in Cupcake Land is a rarity!
Just chilling out with loved ones, enjoying a large glass of vino and some scrummy sausages for brunch...
Even our food is vintage-inspired - for the record, they were delicious!
It is far too nice a day to be at the computer, so enjoy your weekend Cupcake Followers.

Cupcake Mimi here! Quite excited about my first post on The Kennedy Cupcakes' official Blog, Keeping Up With The Cupcakes (have to resist spelling that with a K!), so here goes...
As you may or may not know, us Cupcakes rehearse every Thursday night at the lovely Esporta in Hamilton, and always have a hoot doing so. However, as many of us are involved in the fitness and dance-instruction world, we like to keep fit outside of our weekly hootananays. Many of us also attend weird and wonderful fitness classes just for fun, with Cupcake Eva attending classes in Aerial Silks! After a while your body gets used to whatever exercise you're doing and you have to up your game.
SO, Cupcake Lisa (my sister) and I decided last year that we would start running on a regular basis, and our decision was further influenced by the fact that The Kennedy Cupcakes were made the official face of the Ignis Management Ladies 10k last year. So with much enthusiasm we decided that every Friday after work, we would go a run, varying from 30 minutes to over an hour. "Anyway," we thought, "how hard could it be, it's just walking but, like, really fast, right?" WRONG.
Our first route took us from my humble abode through Bellshill town centre. "Brilliant" we thought, for what seemed like a 5 mile run. Little did we know that it was a mere 2 miles in total.
There we were, in the Cupcake Mobile, driving the route one night, watching Lisa's mileage counter, eagerly awaiting for that we digital number to transform from a 0 to a 1. It (finally) happened, but we were nearly home. With baited breath we crossed our fingers and everything else, willing the clock to show us a 2. It did. Eventually. Right outside my front door. Literally. There was no doubt about it. Our 'successful' run was a mesely 2miles.
Not defeated, we decided to up our game once more and after many pinching knees, stitches and twinging ankles, we have finally found a route that suits. This perfect route also happens to be over 6 miles in length. Over 3 times our original route. Deary me.
We have however managed to stick to our plan, and had a very successful run last Friday. Albeit a wet one. Leggings were wrung out, baseball caps were left to dry on the radiator, but we did it! And even more fantastically, our only complaint was that our bodies were sore but our lungs were not. We had achieved our goal; up the fitness regime but don't kill yourself in the process.
We are now avid runners, so if you do happen to see us trotting along the road tomorrow (Friday) morning in the Bellshill/Motherwell area, please wave and shout encouraging things at us. Do not, however, offer us a lift. We're keen on running, but not that keen.

Evenin' all, it's Cupcake Linzi tonight!
Just thought I would give you a a slither of Cupcake-y goodness and let you know how preparations are coming along for our 'Puttin' on the Blitz' 40's do, the countdown is really on (only 17 days, seen as you asked). It's sure
to be a corker of a night with plenty singing, jiving, laughing and most importantly, lots of scrumptious Cupcake goodies for sale.
We have been rehearsing weekly in our beautiful rehearsal space @ Esporta - The Lanarkshire Health and Racquets Club, putting the final sprinkles to our fabulous routines. We have also been learning our amazing new routine that will be unveiled at our big night. We all just adore it, and wait till you see it; it's sure to hit the headlines (wink, wink)!
The dance is quite tricky in parts, so to help us remember the intricate and complicated choreography, I'm going to let you into a little secret.
We (or should I say, I) have come up with an ingenious system to memorise steps. Remember, this is classified Cupcake business here! Proper trade secrets!
This clever system involves silly rhymes, some rude words and usually, very random phrases. For example, our favourite sequence at the moment includes "Ssh, HAT, She's having a baby, come see, hips, boobs, HAT, kick the baby, boom boom"
And there is definitely a prize for the person who can best recreate our dance using only those words!!! Go on, I dare you, give it a go, just make sure your blinds are drawn and the neighbours can't see in. Please be advised, that no actual babies are harmed in the dancing of this routine, it is purely a figure of speech.
It's Cupcake nonsense like this, that ensures we always have the best fun. To be honest, we spend most of our time laughing uncontrollably, either at each other, or ourselves. And I think that shows when you meet us, we have such a marvellous time being Cupcakes that we never feel like we're working; we all feel truly honoured to be part of Cupcake Lisa's recipe!
We love what we're doing and that wonderful feeling can be quite infectious... you end up dancing or laughing with us, or more often than not, both! Sometimes you might even laugh at us, we have all had our daft moments.
So if you are lucky enough to have purchased your tickets for our 40's bash on April 22nd, then you are in for a real, sweet treat.
And if you haven't got tickets, tough luck! Boss, Cupcake Lisa, has only gone and sold ALL the tickets. You'll just need to wait for a sneaky YouTube clip or make up your own Cupcake routine... just remember, 'Ssh, Hat, she's having a baby, Hips, boobs, Hat, Kick the baby, boom boom'
Toodle Pip cupcake fans, I'm away to practise!

P.S. A thank you to my other half, Mug-cake Jamesy Boy for our lovely Kennedy Cupcakes 2nd birthday cake, a giant cupcake from Cakes by Alexandra. What a nice treat! And how cool is our logo in icing! With a cherry on top too :)
