On This Day...

Michael Joseph Jackson passed away 2 years ago at the age of 50.

MJ has never ceased to amaze and inspire the Cupcakes with his fearlessness and creativity. Sister Cupcakes myself & Lisa feature in many a home movie emulating his signature moves...and singing a lot of wrong lyrics!

So on this day, please celebrate the genius that is Michael Jackson. And next time you see us perform, keep an eye out for some very MJ-esque moves in some of our routines!

We love you Michael!

Don't stop til you get enough!

Friday's Rule!!! Scouts Honour!

Friday's Rule #6
Always be prepared!

This is really Lisa's rule. She takes 2 of everything... everywhere... just in case!!!
Yes she is prepared but we will need sherpas to help us carry our stuff to gigs.

And you thought the suitcases were just for show.

Spare dresses, reserve props, extra kirbies, surplus hats,
backup hotpants, superfluous sailor suits, optional gloves...
A Sat Nav, map and a compass for emergencies and
multiple CD's, iPod, cassette and an LP (you know, just in case)!

It is a very sensible trait but Cupcake Mimi took the rule too far.
At Belladrum Festival last year, she actually packed 2 left feet!!!

So when you see a poor Cupcake struggling with a load of bags and umpteen costumes,
please stop and offer your assistance,
we're probably carrying the kitchen sink!

Kennedy Cupcakes....dancers in disguise!!!!!

As you may have already guessed, the Cupcakes have alter egos that they pose as when not living life in Cupcake Land. They are heavily disguised and their true identity as Forces Sweethearts isn't always detectable on first encounters.  Primary School teacher, Accountant, university researcher, yummy mummy, dance teacher...they will fool you into believing they are just normal beings....when really they are living breathing KENNEDY CUPCAKES! Dun, dun, duuuuuunnnnn!!!

On Sunday, an unsuspecting crowd at Glasgow's O2 Mela at Kelvingrove Park, didn't realise that on stage one of these Cupcakes was in fact posing as a..................

BOLLYWOOD GODDESS!!!!!
Here's Jules and fellow Fusion dancer Charlie figuring out how to apply  her bindi
Yes Cupcake Jules!!

She hung up her Forties get-up this weekend to don a fabulous Bollywood/Scottish ensemble to perform at the O2 Glasgow Mela on Sunday alongside the Desi Bravehearts http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Desi-Bravehearts/139155460087?sk=wall and 4 other beautiful fusion dancers to revive a piece commissioned for Glasgow's Commonwealth Flag Handover Ceremony last October.

The piece co-choreographed by Cupcake Lisa and Indian choreographer Pratap Shety, fused Indian and Scottish dance to create a lively, intricate piece that entertained the Mela crowd on the Commonwealth Stage!
Lisa and Pratap with the Desi Bravehearts & Fusion dancers (including Jules!) last October at the Old Fruitmarket
Cupcake Jules performed to perfection, as always ....
Blonde on the right!
and was not only cheered on by the large crowd that had formed but her fellow Cupcakes!!!!

Yes, we were also performing at the Mela!

Cupcakes Evette, Lynne, Carol and myself were all there to cheer on Jules and the rest of the dancers after we'd hit the stage! The crowd loved our performance too and backstage all the performers were super supportive of each other...a great buzz about the event and a great day out for all the family!

These Cupcake gals sure are a talented bunch, don't ya think???!

Cupcake Crazies! Carol's Country Conundrum!

More madness, once again,
courtesy of our beautiful Cupcake Carol.

Carol is away on holiday this week, somewhere hot and exotic.
So it is very fitting that today's 'Crazy'
gives Carol's geographical knowledge a great big FAIL!

And before you think "How cruel!"
always picking on the same Cupcake,
she admitted to all of these, quite openly.

Numpty Admission 1.
She was peckish and had a craving for Chinese food
so wanted to go to the restaurant, the Bombay Cottage!
(p.s. Bombay was in India, now Mumbai, they serve Indian food!)

Numpty Admission 2.
She thought Woking was in Asia!!
(p.p.s. They use them to cook Carol, that is all... it's in England)

and my personal favourite...

Numpty Admission 3.
Carol was positive North Korea was in Europe!!!
(It's not!)

(Here we are trying to figure out where South Korea is!)

I hope Cupcake Carol has a wonderful holiday and
please let Mark be in charge of the map.

Dads...We Salute You!

Hello troops!

Cupcake Mimi here. While the other Cupcakes are strutting their 1940s (and 50s) stuff at today's Glasgow Mela, I am at home relaxing before I get ready for a non-Cupcake event and feeling very thankful for all the Dads in the world!

Dads are great, aren't they? I'm sure all of our Cupcake Dads had to endure years of driving us to dance classes (Cupcake Lisa and I started at the ages of 3 and 6 respectively), paying for dance classes, looking enthusiastic and interested at every dance display, and telling you, quite genuinely, that your dances were the best in the show and so on.

Our Dads have been fairly silent supporters of our hobbie-turned semi-profession for years and on this Fathers' Day, The Kennedy Cupcakes say, " We salute you all, Dads!".

So if you have a Dad that has been pretty great to you, then make sure you say "thank you" today! I mean, how do they manage running all of those businesses (Bank of Dad, Dad's Taxis, Dad and Co Painter and Decorators etc)?!

Got my wee Dad a box of choccies and a T-Shirt that says "Dads Rock". They most definitely do!
