It was a cold dark stormy night... With a flash of lightening and the following thunder... the text came through...

This was it... My mission...

I swung open my wardrobes.. nothing.. looked at my (dangerously high) ironing pile... nothing...

Operation Cupcake Costume Recovery Phase One Begins

I called my Mum (what else do you do in these situations) no answer.. darn..

another crash of thunder *whimper*

Drawers are disrupted... nothing...

Become more creative... the bottom of the wardrobe (cue creepy creaky wardrobe door) and once again nothing...

I take to the streets... (well the car lol)

Head back to the place it all began... My parents house...

Muuuuuuuumm have you seen my - Mum produces my Cupcakes shirt... *happy sigh*

Panic over!

Now for a cup of tea and a cupcake :-)

Carol sits down with her cup of tea...

Cupcakes in Paris!

Well, unless you've been hiding under a rock this past week, you'll no doubt know that The Kennedy Cupcakes were in gay Paris the weekend, visiting fellow Cupcake Evette in her new abode.

Flying from Prestwick Airport, Cupcakes Emma, Linzi, Lynne, Julieann & I all grabbed a coffee & those all important magazines before the short flight to Beauvais. Not being confident flyers, Em & Jules literally held hands the ENTIRE flight, only letting go when one of them needed two hands for something! As you can imagine, our little trio took great delight in giggling at their setup behind us. Poor girls...they were very brave!

After a bumpy landing (received with much dismay from the conjoined Cupcakes!) which received a round of applause from the cabin (really?!), we headed for the bus station & made our way to see Eva!

An hour later we were in Paris & hugging Cupcake Eva!! On the metro as quick as you can say "Bonjour" & we were at Eva's pad in no time! And what a Parisian pad it is!! Wow! The girl's done good for sure. In a heart beat, we'd cluttered her beautiful minimalist flat with all our clothes & shoes & took up most of her wardrobe space. Luckily our Eva is über laid back & was only too happy to offer us everything we needed to feel at home. We headed downstairs to the bistro next door, had a gorgeous meal, caught up on all the goss & then toddled down to a local bar for celebratory cocktails & coffees. It's safe to say we relaxed into holiday mode pretty quickly.

Bright-eyed & bushy tailed (not!) after going to bed around 4am, we set out in to the sunshine on Saturday. First stop was brunch. Croque Monsieur, omelettes, croissants, cafe creme & various other yummy platters, the Cupcakes planned a day of sightseeing as we sat in the warmth of a Parisian summer's day. Tummies full, we ventured out, guide book in hand & headed for the Moulin Rouge. Being on Rue de Sex (not the official street name), there were plenty 'sights' to see on the way. Lots of giggles & Emma's misunderstanding of a 'shoe-shine' chair, it's safe to say the usual Cupcake banter was in full flow & we were on top form!

A rooftop view of Paris, the Opera house souvenir shop & the looooooooong walk to the Sacre Coeur, we were ready for our delish Cupcakes at a little gem of a cafe, aptly named 'Miss Cupcake'. The piste de resistance wasn't any of Paris' famous landmarks though- oh no!! It was the gorgeous, nearly-new pair of Vivienne Westwood Melissas in gold in a vintage shop...in my size at £20!!! Sold to the girl who can't resist Viviennes & a bargain!

Clubbing in Paris was an experience in it's self! First stop on Saturday night was a trendy hot-spot by the Seine. Long story short- French girls trying to get us to buy them drinks; being moved from our seats 1.5hour into sitting on them; banging house music & creepy dudes, we decided to move on & after Linz asked the bouncers where we could go to find "music with words", we were in a convoy of taxis & bound for another club, which can only be described as Paris' version of Glasgow's Blanket. Cracking tunes & dance-offs galore, we had such a fun night on the dance floor! We even got the DJ doing a Cupcake Salute! I've never laughed so much when Cupcake Lynne started busting' a move battling a French guy who was a serious mover! Go Lynnie Go Lynnie!

6am bedtime for the Cupcakes meant a little later rise for us on Sunday. We munched the pain au chocolat & croissants we'd our bought from le supermarche & ventured out in to the rain! Boooo! Rain?? No Paris, not on!
Not ones to be put off by a little rain, the Cupcakes visited the padlock bridge, Notre Dame, the Louvre restaurant (not the actual museum as we'd still be in queue just now if we'd waited in it!) & saw the Ritz! In the evening we dined outside & enjoyed the BIGGEST SALAD EVER! Actually massive & Cupcake Eva & I shared one! Fine dining indeed, we really did enjoy the Parisian food.

Our last day in Paris came a little too quickly for our liking & not wanting to waste a moment, we set our early to go see the Eiffel Tower. Whipping out the Cupcake tees, we performed a little routine in front of the tower which wasn't received with weird looks & stares that we'd expected. No one batted an eyelid! Must be the norm to break into a fully choreographed routine in matching outfits at the Eiffel Tower?!?

As Linzi turned the ripe old age of 27 on Monday, we decided a little culture would be the perfect way to complete our weekend. A lot of modern art, to me, is MENTAL but there were a few pieces which were awesome, including an Andy Warhol called 'Ten Liz's'. Another painting had us in stitches (trying to keep quiet as we were in a gallery) when I compared Lynne to the female in it. A situation which all us ladies have to deal with at some point in our lives- the pesky VPL & not being able to wear underwear with certain outfits. Let's say Lynne felt very 'free' in Paris! Our final munch in Paris was done on style at the Pompidou's rooftop restaurant. Cake? Now this was CAKE! The most expensive cake I've ever had but totally worth it!

Sooooo after a quick jaunt to Sephora aka cosmetic Mecca, it was time to head to the bus terminal. Sad faces all round, we reluctantly said goodbye to Eva & thanked her for a truly AWESOME weekend, one that we'll never forget!

Lots of laughs, good food, cocktails, coffee (Green tea for Jules of course!), a day of Lynne being Little Miss Clumsy, attempting to speak French, dancing, crepes, Hotel Coste music, sight-seeing, Cupcaking at the Eiffel Tower....so many memories that we'll treasure forever. It's safe to say us Cupcakes can work, rest & definitely play together. Thanks to Eva for being the perfect host. We're so proud of what she's achieved & how confident she is living in Paris alone. Although we don't get to see her much, she's a Cupcake at heart that's for sure & one of life...just a wee French Fancy now! X

Keep Calm & SALUTE!!!

You may have came across our first ever Facebook competition we ran last week-Cupcake Salute Competition! As we salute in a few of our routines (& often captured by photographers doing so), we thought this would be a great concept for a competition.

We were overwhelmed, to say the least, at the amount of entries, not to mention how wonderful all the photos were! So many lovely peeps (& furry friends) had thought about their pic & took the time to set it up! We'd hoped that in joining in on the competition, everyone would have fun in doing their Cupcake Salute & capturing it! From the photos we were sent, I think there were plenty giggles & smiles all round!
From doggies to dancers, new-borns to mummies, everyone joined in on the fun & everyday we were delighted at all the photos we received!

It's was soooo hard to then choose the winning photo! The Cupcake gals deliberated & finally came to their decision! Nikki's (aged 9) nanny sent a pic of her at Summerlee Heritage Centre! We thought she looked like a Cupcake in the making! We've since heard that Nikki is extremely happy about winning the competition & can't wait to meet the Cupcakes & get her Kennedy Cupcake T-shirt! We're really looking forward to meeting her too!

Pics to follow! Another fun memory in the Cupcake book x

Summer , you say?

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been a while since we posted on here but we have been super busy with lots of lovely events up and down the country! So we thought we'd give you the low down on everything we've been up to in June and July so far....supposed to be the 'Summer' but we'd be reluctant to use that word!!! Mr Sunshine where have you been on all those outdoor gigs?!

Sooooo we kick-started June with Jubilee events at Summerlee Heritage Centre! We had two lovely days of entertaining families at outdoor tea parties and loved having a nosey round the museum between sets. Feel we may have to return for a photo shoot opportunity!

We then had a smashing wedding reception to perform at. Trying to sneak in through the back door, so as not to spoil the surprise for the guests was FUN! Love the random things we need to do sometime! We LOVE a good wedding and now that Cupcake Lynne is engaged to be married next July..eeeeeek....we are super excited at the thought of another Cupcake wedding!

We were invited to appear at Kilsyth's Civic Week on Saturday 16th June and despite the terrible weather, we had a smashing day with all those who turned up. We used our Cupcake charm to secure a cuppa in the local estate agents and some hot sausgaes for lunch from the butchers! We brought some cheer to a dreary day weather-wise, as we bundled into a dis-used shop and gathered everyone around to learn a Cupcake Stroll! It's true....dance is a great medicine for the blues!

As we ventured into the last few weeks of June things got a little crazy-mental!!! With Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh's Armed Forces Day celebrations and The Glasgow Mela, The Cupcake gals were working hard in rehearsals prepping for all the events! All the events were SUPER! Highlights included.....

1. Playing Tug-o-War with some army and RAF lads at Stirling's AFD! They reeeeeeally needed our assistance!
2. Meeting our friend the bishop, Ronnie again at Glasgow AFD, who we met this time last year! He was soooo charming!
3. Seeing a RAF flypast up close at Edinburgh AFD! Wow!
4. Getting such a great crowd reaction at the Glasgow Mela!
5. Having the Sea Cadets join us in a Cupcake Stroll! Excellent!
As if all that excitment wasn't enough, The Kennedy Cupcakes were asked to open for Glasgow and Ayrshire Musichoir Scotland!! As Lisa and Linzi had joined the Glasgow branch for their summer term, Choir master Neil asked us to perform, a 25 minute set prior to the show. What a great chance in itself this was but was then topped by the fact that the show was in the O2 ABC!!!! Wow! What a night! One to remember for sure! Footage to come soon!

We then went on to perform at Ayr Town Hall to open for the Ayrshire choir and got a great response from the crowd! Crrrrrrrazeeeeeee quick changes side-of-stage and one which resulted in Carol wearing the wrong trousers, but we got through it with poise and grace (just!) and had a blast in the process!

And before we knew it it was July!!! We entertained the RAF boys at their Summer Social at a gorgeous sailing club at Dalgety Bay on 4th July and even had some competiton on our hands when the 'Beefcakes' challenged us to a dance off! Soooo funny and we're raging we didn't get any pics!!! Grrrrrr! We then hotfooted it to Dundee on Saturday 14th July to take part in the Dundee Dance Walk! Another awesome day of music and dance! Was so inspiring to see people of all walks of life enjoying various styles of dance and having a go! We completed the day with everyone outside the stunning McManus gallery dancing a Cupcake Stroll! Memories are made of this kinda stuff! x

And here we are, nearly at the end of July. We have another 4 events before the month is out and then some of us are off on holiday!!!!!!! Paris here we come...can't wait to see Cupcake Eva in her new home!

Let us take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support, the well wishes, the love and all the laughs! We couldn't do it without you and we will always look back at every gig fondly beacuse you were there!

It's Very Nice To Go Travelling....

Bonjour mes amies!
Cupcake Mimi here, hope you are having a lovely Thursday!
Some of us Cupcakes will be visiting our bestest bud and fellow Cupcake Evette in her new pad en Paris in August! How very continental of us! And true to our ethos, we want to make sure that we respect and embrace the French Parisian culture, and fit right in with the locals.
SO, we have come up with a few outfits and activities that we might partake in during our trip…what do you think?!

And obviously, learning the lingo is a huge part of respect, so we are currently learning some key Cupcake phrases in French…ooh lala!

Où sont mes rouleaux?
Where are my rollers?

Si vous souriez, on ne se penchera sur vos sous-vêtements.
If you smile, no one will look at your pants.

Je n'ai pas d'argent. Voulez-vous accepter un spectacle de danse comme moyen de paiement?
I have no money. Will you accept a dance performance as payment?

Excusez-moi, nous avons perdu notre ami Lynne. Elle a été vu la dernière fois à la sandwicherie. Pouvez-vous m'aider?
Excuse me, we have lost our friend Lynne. She was last seen in the sandwich shop. Can you help?

Think we’ll survive?!

Merch Mayhem!

So, in Cupcake Land we do like a wee giggle and we've been known to get a little silly at Thursday night rehearsals, letting our imaginations run wild, to the point where we're rolling about the floor in stitches! Well we think we're funny, right?!!

It was on a recent gig where the idea of Cupcake Merchandise came about (loooooooooong story) and that got us thinking about the ridiculous items we could have in our Cupcake Souvenir Shop!

Just all the things that you've always wanted to show you're a true FAN! Yeah?????

Drink Your Morning Cuppa and think of Us!
Your Pooch will LOVE being a Cupcake!

Shower with The Kennedy Cupcakes'........ Curtains!
Cupcakes Cereal will set you up for the day!
We really freaked poor Katrina out when we suggested that some people might like a 'Katrina Bed Spread'!!! Our branded wear sponsor Cora of  Branded Bee http://www.brandedbee.com/ would be able to rustle that up no probs!

Keep perfect time with us!
I doubt we'll ever get to the dizzy heights of fame where the above merchandise will be in demand..... but if we do, don't worry you'll be the first to hear, as we know you're just dying for a Kennedy Cupcake Carriage Clock!!!!

To be fair, I'm not sure if even Del Boy could flog those!!!

We can but dream....

Friday's Rule: Go Compare, Go Compare!!!

We've recently realized that all of the Cupcake gals all have at one stage, been mistaken or at least compared to a well-know personality or celebrity!

It was on a recent Cupcake night-out, when a chap (on a stag doo) opted to ditch his mates to join us for a blether and to re-enact the programme The Voice by turning his back to us on a swivel chair, making us sing and then turning around if he liked what he heard (was funny for 5 mins.....1 hour? Not so much!).

Anywho, he'd been distracted from the said Stag Doo when he spotted Cupcake Linzi (our token red-head) who he thought looked like Belinda Carlisle. Mmmm we're not that convinced! I think it was merely the fast that they have red hair and.....heads?! Oor Linzi is far bonnier than Belinda (not to diss Belinda who is  smashing of course!).

Infact, it would seem that Linz gets to compared to nearly every celebrity female red head that has ever walked the Earth! Including, Emma Pillbury from Glee and Ariel (actually that was Linzi who suggested that!)

Photo from Oh My! Emma Pillsbury!
Photo from thelacqueredlady.blogspot.com

So this then sparked us to think of all the celebs we've been compared to or mistaken for....

Lisa is..........Myleene Klass

Lynne is..... Elliot from Scrubs
From evert.meulie.net
Emma is....Kylie & Dannii Minogue

Carol. is....Kim Kardashian

Julieann is.....Christina Ricci

Katrina is....Jade Lezar

But whom does Cupcake Kelly look like????? Any suggestions????
